About Artist:
From Springfield, Missouri, Willoh records and creates her own music, having first found her footing on Garageband before graduating to LogicPro–making the upgrade from her earnings working many long shifts at McDonalds.
Listening to Willoh brings me back to a time when music was cool, before everyone had to get ‘signed’ and when streaming numbers weren’t the sole basis for an artist’s popularity. “shogun” returns me to the excitement I first felt upon hearing the early wave of bedroom-pop bands like Real Estate, Washed Out, How to Dress Well. I’m reminded of the first time I heard the Weeknd, when he was just an anonymous producer who had released an unbelievable EP. I can see my friends outside of 285 Kent, smoking cigarettes with Sky Ferreira while waiting for the newest hot artist to take the stage, and in that vision, that new artist is Willoh.
Willoh makes me grateful that I’ve lived long enough to discover an artist that is too young to know what I’m talking about make bedroom pop that keeps the purity of the early wave of Garageband producers but with the updated production value of modern times. I am thankful that in this world of paint-by-numbers “left of center” factory produced pop divas, we have unearthed a treasure in Springfield, Missouri.
