Crewless has a familiar nostalgic sound and vibe, while still sounding like nobody else. They mix drum machines and guitars with fat Moog synths and tons of cool samples, and then produce and mix their song using vintage analog gear that make it so you can “hear the tubes”.
The songwriting is free from any rules or trends. Maestre G, their primary songwriter, says that “every song is created based on a vibe and a feeling. We generally start with a beat and then add different elements, being guided by the emotion we are hearing. At that point the song will tell us what the lyrics are about and all we have to do is allow the music to speak to us, the words fall right into place”. Vocals are delivered by Jefe and Violet Helm.
Crewless has been pushing the limits of expression via sound and fashion in their hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah, and their influences include The Ting Tings, Tame Impala, Daft Punk and The Kills.
