About Artist:
Based out of Toronto Canada, OTHEOSE – aka producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer Kevin Krouglow – blends moody electronic music and dance elements with world influences, live instruments and sound design. With similarities to artists such as ODESZA, Rüfüs Du Sol, Phantogram, Bonobo, il:lo, Tycho, and Emancipator, his music focuses on building a mood that listeners can lose themselves in. Having spent over a decade working in the Film/TV, Games and Advertising industry, and another 10 years of music experience before that, he draws upon his varied skills writing in virtually every genre and brings a cinematic quality to his sound. Being classically trained and having spent his younger years playing in rock bands, he not only sings but also performs on his own recordings, playing everything from various percussion to guitar, piano, cello, flute, and sitar as well as other world instruments.
Working on his debut album Continental Drift was an end in itself, and a way to reconnect with his passion for music. After a long time writing primarily for others, it was liberating to follow his creativity and inspiration and see what naturally emerged. Not restricting himself by genre, instrumentation, or structure, the cohesiveness of the tracks in the album happened organically. Though thematically melancholic, with lyrics focusing on loss, longing, confusion, disappointment, letting go, and drifting apart, there is still a layer of hope, highlighting connection as well as the wisdom in the pain and the potential to change one’s course for the better.
A real passion project, his extensive experience in music allowed him the freedom to be creative and express his vision at every step of the process, as he wrote, performed, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered the album himself. The end result is something he is very proud of and excited to be sharing with the world.
