About Artist:
Sasha & the Bear is an indie/pop duo formed in Brooklyn, New York, by lifelong friends Sasha Daniel (singer, songwriter) and Dov Igel (songwriter, producer, singer).
After first collaborating in 2016 and earning placements on Spotify editorial playlists, the project eventually fell silent as life pulled them in different directions. Sasha moved away from New York, while Dov focused on his solo work under the name DOV. In 2021, following the loss of Dov’s mother, the two found their way back to each other – and back to writing music.
When they officially revived Sasha & the Bear in 2022, they made one simple rule: they would only write and record while escaping everyday life. Since then, every release has been created during retreats to remote cabins and quiet places around the world, using minimal equipment and allowing nature, friendship, and the limitations of time to shape the music.
Their first three EPs were written across Scandinavia, Spain, the Netherlands, Romania, and other temporary homes, gradually defining a sound rooted in vulnerability, restraint, and emotional honesty rather than perfection.
On August 7, 2026, Sasha & the Bear release their debut album, Held in Passing. Recorded throughout 2025 in cabins across Portugal and Slovenia, the ten-song collection explores love, friendship, grief, anxiety, change, and the beauty of being imperfectly human. Built around analog textures, intimate performances, and understated production, the album reflects the duo’s belief that authenticity matters more than polish. Even the visual world surrounding the project – from the artwork to the documentary photography – is captured on analog film, embracing imperfection as part of the story.
In an era increasingly shaped by algorithms and artificial perfection, Sasha & the Bear continue to make music the slow way: two friends, a quiet cabin, a few instruments, and songs that simply aim to feel true.
