Written and produced by Dimitri von Büren in Paris, Paris Calling is influenced by electro/disco vibes mixed with his indie touch. The track is mixed by the Australian producer Josh Dives (signed on Kitsuné Records), who has mixed the most popular tracks of the indie artists Hector Gachan and Jermango Dreamin (Nice Guys Records). The Mastering has been done by the American sound engineer Dave Cooley who has mastered tracks for iconic artists such as Tame Impala, M83, Animal Collective, Ariel Pink, Paramore and Isaac Hayes to name a few. The result is a mix of indie/funk and groovy sounds, surrounded by Dimitri’s soulful voice.
Dimitri Von Büren comments, “This song is an ode to Parisian nightlife. This city that never sleeps always drags you to improvised parties, this is the life I’ve mainly been living over the past few months. It’s all about spending time (maybe too much?) in bars and nightclubs with friends, the endless quest of fun and euphoria, mixed with romantic and nostalgic feelings. Being conscious that this may be a waste of time (and money?) but moments spent with good friends are priceless after all, as it shows on the video music clip.
It all started with this guitar riff that reminded me a bit of “Music Sounds Better With You” by Stardust, as a Parisian and French guy, I really wanted to bring my own contribution to this so-called French Touch vibe carried out by Daft Punk that has been making people groove and dance all over the world for years. After the tracks Sunny Days and Space Dunk, Paris Calling is the 3rd single of Dimitri von Büren’s 2nd and upcoming album to be out in early 2024.
