Taroug is the solo project of German-Tunisian electronic music producer and drummer Tarek Zarroug. Raised in Germany with roots in southern Tunisia, his music navigates the tension between physical rhythm and sculpted electronic textures. Pulsating organic drums dissolve into analogue synthesizers, field recordings and restrained, hypnotic vocals — balancing minimalist introspection with raw, bass-driven force. After a series of remixes for artists like Archive (UK), Taroug has continued to refine his musical aesthetic. This has led to a collaboration with Denovali Records for the release of his debut album Darts & Kites and performances at international festivals such as Tallinn Music Week in 2025. With his new album Chott named after Chott El Djerid, Taroug turns inward, tracing lines between heritage and present time — a deeply personal exploration of identity, memory and sonic minimalism shaped by tension, space and contrast.
